Last week Ground Up Audio announced the latest update to the Amps & Cabs™ application, Amps & Cabs™ V0.3 FILTERED.
Since the initial release of Amps & Cabs™ V 0.1, Ground Up Audio have been working hard – planning new features, and improving the app’s performance. The previous update, Amps & Cabs™ V0.2 RE-AMPED, included an overhaul of the Gain and EQ settings of the amp-heads, which enhanced the tone quality of the application as a whole.
Since that update, both iPad® and iPhone 4® were released and brought new challenges to the development of direct audio input apps like Amps & Cabs™ (applications where a guitar or other audio signal is sent directly in and out of the device using an adapter or interface).
Nearly every Apple Mobile Device has a different Volume and EQ response to direct audio input. So, without a comprehensive approach to this fact, it was certain that guitar tone quality would differ from one device to another while playing through a guitar interface adapter into Amps & Cabs™ V0.2 RE-AMPED.
In response to these hardware differences, Ground Up Audio have included functions within Amps & Cabs™ V0.3 FILTERED that automatically detect which Apple Mobile Device you are playing through, and correct the equalization so the guitar tones you create maintain consistent quality- whether you’re playing through an iPhone 3G®, iPhone 3GS®, iPod touch®, or an iPad™.
